HALF MOON Straight, Calif. (AP) — A Minnesota cultivation educator set a worldwide best in California on Monday for the heaviest pumpkin in the wake of growing a monster jack-o'- light gourd weighing 2,749 pounds (1,247 kilograms).
Travis Gienger of Anoka, Minnesota, brought home the 50th Big showdown Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Cove, California, with a gigantic, uneven, orange pumpkin that could create no less than 687 pies.
"I was not anticipating that. It was a remarkable inclination," said Gienger, 43, who has been developing pumpkins for almost 30 years
The past world record for heaviest pumpkin was set by a cultivator in Italy who delivered a 2,702-pound (1,226-kilogram) squash in 2021, as per Guinness World Records.
Gienger develops his gourds in the pumpkin fix in his terrace. He said for this present year he chose to give his plants additional consideration, watering them up to 12 times each day and taking care of and treating them somewhat more than expected.
Gienger, a scene and cultivation educator at Anoka Specialized School, has been developing pumpkins since he was a youngster, propelled by his dad who likewise developed them.
